Monsieur Verdoux
The film is about an unemployed banker, Henri Verdoux, and his sociopathically motivated means of generating income. Verdoux was laid off despite being a dedicated and skilled worker. He marries affluent widows and then murders them to provide for his wife and child. His crime spree ultimately backfires on him when two specific widows disrupt his pattern.
