Tarzan
Tarzan is the name of a television series that ran on NBC from 1966 through 1968. The television series showed Tarzan as a character with a high level of education, one who had grown weary of the conveniences of civilisation and had moved back to the forest where he had spent his childhood. As part of the "new look" for the legendary apeman that producer Sy Weintraub had introduced in previous motion pictures starring Gordon Scott, Jock Mahoney, and Mike Henry, the show kept many of the hallmarks of the classic movie series, such as Cheeta, while omitting others, such as Jane. This was done in order to maintain the "classic" feel of the movies while also giving the apeman a "modern" appearance. During the summer of 1969, CBS broadcast rerun episodes of the program on their network.
