At first glance, Hunter, played by Haley Bennett, seems to have everything. As a housewife who just found out she was pregnant, she seems happy to spend her time cleaning and pampering her Ken-doll husband, Richie (Austin Stowell). But as the pressure from her controlling in-laws and her husband's high standards grows, cracks start to show in the carefully put-together front she has made. Hunter starts doing something dangerous, and a dark secret from her past comes out in the form of a disorder called pica. This disorder makes her swallow non-edible, and often life-threatening, objects over and over again. SWALLOW is a provocative and uncomfortable psychological thriller that shows how one woman falls apart as she tries to get her freedom back from an oppressive system by any means possible.
