New Caledonia's Ouvéa Island, April 1988 A squad of Kanak independence warriors kidnaps 30 gendarmes. To restore order, 300 soldiers are dispatched from France. Philippe Legorjus, the terrorist squad's commander, and Alphonse Dianou, the kidnappers' leader, square off. They will try to make conversation triumphant by using their common ideals. When the stakes are political, though, order isn't necessarily defined by morality during a presidential race. Mathieu Kassovitz returns to the screen and behind the camera in this violent and disturbing epic.
