Genial and bumbling Monsieur Hulot is perplexed as to why his sister's family has relocated to the suburbs, as he adores his dingy flat on the city's highest floor. Their home is an ultramodern nightmare, and Hulot only visits in order to abduct his rowdy young nephew.
