Dodes'ka-den
On the outskirts of Tokyo, Akira Kurosawa's film follows a group of people who are struggling to survive. Despite their dire circumstances, the homeless father and son, the young woman molested by her uncle, and the youngster who dreams of being a trolley operator, find reasons to live. It was made during a difficult time in Kurosawa's life. That devotion is on full display in his stunning debut color film.
