Andromeda is a Canadian/American science fiction TV show that was created by Robert Hewitt Wolfe and produced by Gene Roddenberry's widow, Majel Barrett. The show is based on material that Roddenberry never used for Star Trek. Kevin Sorbo played High Guard Captain Dylan Hunt in the movie. The first episode aired on October 2, 2000, and the last one was shown on May 13, 2005. Andromeda was made in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Tribune Entertainment and Fireworks Entertainment were in charge of making the movie. In Canada, it was shown on Global TV. In the United States, it was shown on WGN and other channels. In the U.S., the Sci-Fi Channel picked it up in the middle of season four. Andromeda is one of two TV shows that are based on ideas that Roddenberry came up with in the 1960s and 1970s. Dylan Hunt was also the name of the hero in two TV movie pilots that Roddenberry made in the mid-1970s. These movies, Genesis II and Planet Earth, had similar plots and were both called "Dylan Hunt." Earth: Final Conflict is the other show that was made from Roddenberry's notes after he died.
