Akira Tachibana is a soft-spoken high school girl who used to be a member of the track and field club but is now unable to run as quickly as she once could owing to an accident. As a last resort, she works part-time at a family restaurant and falls inexplicably in love with her manager, a divorced 45-year-old guy with a young son. Despite the age difference, Akira embraces his idiosyncrasies and gentle attitude, which the other employees interpret as spinelessness, and the two gradually come to understand each other.
