Eve Harrington has a goal in mind from the moment she catches a sight of her hero, the great actress Margo Channing, at the stage door. She is determined to seize control of the situation from Margo Channing. Eve wiggles her way into Margo's Broadway role, becomes a sensation, and even causes chaos in the lives of Margo's director boyfriend, her playwright, and his wife. All of this happens as a result of Eve's cunning maneuvering. The only person who sees through Eve is the cynical theatre reviewer, who admires her audacity and how perfectly she follows her pattern of dishonesty.
