The animated TV show Watership Down is a loose adaptation of Richard Adams's book of the same name. It was made by the British company Alltime Entertainment and the Canadian company Decode Entertainment. It was produced by Martin Rosen, who also directed the 1978 movie version of the book. From 1999 to 2001, Watership Down ran for 39 episodes and three series on both YTV in Canada and CITV in the UK, though CITV did not show the third series. Several famous British actors played roles in it, including Stephen Fry, Rik Mayall, Phil Jupitus, Jane Horrocks, Dawn French, John Hurt, and Richard Briers. Stephen Gately sang a new version of "Bright Eyes" by Art Garfunkel, which was in the 1978 movie. Mike Batt and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra made a whole new score. Eric Robertson, David Greene, and Mike Batt were all nominated for a Gemini Award in 2003 for their work on the show. The award was for Best Original Music Score for a Dramatic Series. Some episodes of the show were put on VHS and, later, DVD. In the UK, all three series were released on Region 2 DVD in October 2005.
