Triangle

Triangle was a BBC soap opera from the early 1980s that took place on a North Sea ferry sailing from Felixstowe to Gothenburg and then from Gothenburg to Amsterdam. A third fictitious leg existed between Amsterdam and Felixstowe to justify the title of the programme, but it was not operated by the ferry company. The show aired for three seasons before being canceled, but is still regarded as "the most ridiculed British television ever produced." The scripts contained cliched relationships and awkward conversation, making the show the punchline of countless jokes - particularly on Terry Wogan's morning Radio 2 program - which caused the BBC embarrassment. In 1992, the BBC aired TV Hell, a night of programming dedicated to the worst television had to offer, and the premiere episode of Triangle was included in the lineup. MS Tor Scandinavia of Tor Line was the ferry utilized in the initial series. This was replaced in the second and third seasons by the DFDS vessel Dana Anglia, presumably because she had a less hectic schedule and spent more time in port, making on-board filming simpler.
