NBC and Global Television present Treasure Hunters, a game show where teams of three compete to solve mysteries and perform challenges in the hopes of earning the grand prize. To uncover the key, teams must gather seven "artifacts" from around the United States and Europe, which when put together "lead to the key." The show has been likened to the film National Treasure on numerous times because of the trials and puzzles and the ultimate aim of finding a buried treasure. On the season finale, the worth of the treasure was revealed to be $3,000,000. Following the two-hour premiere on June 18, 2006, the series returned to its usual Monday night timeslot on June 26.. A live broadcast of the season finale took place on August 21st, 2006 on NBC. The format of The Hunt is reminiscent of that of The Amazing Race. There are a few key differences: Teams are made up of three people, as opposed to the customary two on The Amazing Race. The end of one leg is not always where the next one begins. Teams start each leg at the same time; Amazing Race teams have staggered starts based on how they finished the last leg.
