ThunderCats is an American/Japanese animated television series created by Ethan Spaulding and Michael Jelenic. Warner Brothers Animation and Studio 4°C collaborated on the remake of the 1980s TV series ThunderCats, which included elements of western animation and Japanese anime into its production process. Hour-long premiere of the series was held on Cartoon Network on July 29, 2011, to kick things off. To stop Mumm-Ra, an evil sorcerer bent on taking over the universe, they must first discover a method to rebuild their former country of Thundera, which has been completely destroyed. It's a considerably darker and more dramatic take on the story than the original, with a lot more emphasis on the characters and deeper issues. According to ThunderCats artist and show exec Dan Norton, who confirmed the project's cancellation in early2013, it had been intended for 52 episodes. Adult Swim's Toonami block aired reruns of the show.
