Thomas & Friends

Thomas & Friends is a British children's television series that debuted on the ITV network on September 4, 1984. It is based on the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry's Railway Series of novels. These volumes follow the exploits of a band of anthropomorphized locomotives and road vehicles who live on the imaginary island of Sodor. The books were inspired by stories Wilbert told to his son, Christopher, while he was recovering from measles. Many of the stories in Series one through four are based on Awdry's personal experiences.
