Cassie Blake moved home with her grandmother in Chance Harbor, Washington, following the death of her mother in a fire. As she gets to know her high school classmates, strange and terrifying occurrences start to occur. They are all descendants of great witches, and they have been waiting for Cassie to join them in order to complete a new generation of the Secret Circle. They are unaware that deeper forces are at play and that Cassie's mother may not have died by accident.
