The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show

The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show was an American animated television series that aired on the ABC and NBC television networks from November 19, 1959, until June 27, 1964. The series is designed as a variety show, with the main feature being the serialized adventures of the two title characters, anthropomorphic moose Bullwinkle and flying squirrel Rocky, produced by Jay Ward Productions. Boris Badenov and Natasha Fatale, who seem like Russian agents, are their principal enemies in most of their exploits. Dudley Do-Right, Peabody's Improbable History, and Fractured Fairy Tales are just a few examples of the supporting portions. Quality writing and caustic comedy are hallmarks of Rocky & Bullwinkle. It appealed to adults and children alike, combining puns, cultural and topical satire, and self-referential humor. It was also one of the first cartoons to have its animation outsourced; storyboards were sent to Gamma Productions, a Mexican studio that Total Television also used. As a result, the art has a choppy, rough appearance, and the animation, especially by television animation standards, is severely limited. Those who have seen the series, however, have long held it in high regard; some commentators have compared it to a well-written radio show with visuals.
