The New People was a short-lived American television series that aired on ABC in 1969 and followed a group of young college students who were returning from a vacation to Southeast Asia when their plane crashed on an island in the south Pacific Ocean. Several college students died in the crash, as did all of the adults save one, who was seriously injured and died later. On the island, the surviving pupils were the sole human life. The island was unique in that it had been constructed as a potential site for an above-ground nuclear test that never happened, leaving all of the buildings and supplies intact and ready for the survivors to utilize.
