The Lieutenant

The Lieutenant is an American TV show that was created by Gene Roddenberry for the first time. During the 1963–1964 TV season, it was shown on NBC on Saturday nights. Arena Productions, one of the most successful in-house production companies at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1960s, made it. The Lieutenant takes place at Camp Pendleton, the U.S. Marine Corps' base on the West Coast. It is about the men of the Corps in peacetime, with the Cold War as a backdrop. Second Lieutenant William Tiberius Rice is the main character. He is the leader of a rifle platoon and one of the training instructors at Camp Pendleton. The Lieutenant is an hour-long drama that looks at the lives of both regular Marines and general officers. The Warner Archive Collection put out two half-season DVD sets of the show on August 14, 2012.
