The Invisible Man is an American science fiction/fantasy TV show starring Vincent Ventresca, Paul Ben-Victor, Eddie Jones, Shannon Kenny, and Michael McCafferty. It aired from June 9, 2000, to February 1, 2002, for two seasons. It was a little more popular than other TV shows about invisible secret agents. The story is about a thief named Darien Fawkes who was sentenced to life in prison. He was recruited by a low-rent spy organization and given the ability to become invisible by putting a "Quicksilver gland" in his head. The gland lets Fawkes' pores and hair follicles release "Quicksilver," a substance that bends light. The substance covers his skin, hair, nails, and clothes quickly, making him invisible. He can release the Quicksilver on purpose, and it will flake off and break up. But when scientist Arnaud DeFehrn made the Quicksilver gland, he made it release a neurotoxin that builds up in the bloodstream and causes intense pain, antisocial behavior, and psychosis. The host needs regular doses of "counteragent," which is controlled by the government agency, to stay healthy and sane. This show ran for two seasons before it was canceled because of cost issues and fighting between the Sci Fi Channel and USA Networks, which was its parent company at the time. The first season of the show was shown on both Sci Fi and first-run syndication at the same time.
