George Altman, a single father raising his sixteen-year-old daughter Tessa in Manhattan, is doing his best. Because of the condoms she found in her room, he decided it was time to take her out of the city and into the suburbs. Behind the manicured lawns and manicured homes hide the Franken-moms, spray tans, nose jobs, and Red Bull-guzzling teenagers who have nothing in common with Tessa.
