Sophie is a Canadian sitcom that originally aired on CBC between January9, 2008 and March23, 2009. Natalie Brown plays Sophie Parker, a single mother and talent agent who is unmarried. This program is an English-language translation of Les Hauts et les bas de Sophie Paquin on Télévision de Radio-Canada. Richard Blaimert and Jocelyn Deschênes, the same creative team as the previous series, devised the show and serve as its executive producer. It was the CBC's second effort in as many years to adapt a successful series from its French sister network, following the less successful Rumours. In February2008, it was reported that ABC Family, a division of Disney-ABC Television Group in the United States, had acquired the show. The network has committed to the first thirteen episodes of the show, with an option for a second season. The sitcom was canceled by CBC on March27, 2009 owing to low ratings.
