Profit debuted on Fox in 1996 at 9 p.m. EST on Monday nights. The series was created by David Greenwalt and John McNamara. Adrian Pasdar plays Jim Profit. Episodes debuted on Chiller in February 2008. Across October2010, CBS Action debuted in Europe. Many consider it a predecessor to The Sopranos, Nip/Tuck, Dexter, Breaking Bad, and The Shield. Subversive themes coming from the main character's amoral conduct made the show uncomfortable for mainstream audiences and Fox affiliates, leading to the show's cancellation. TV Guide ranked Profit #4 on its 2013 list of "Canceled Too Soon" series, calling it "shockingly memorable."
