Megan Smith, a young assistant at a glossy magazine who is smart and quirky, is let go as it becomes clear that having a Yale degree will hold her back from advancing her career in the realm of tabloid journalism. Her employer feels sorry for her situation and sets her an interview with the rich Laurel Limoges, who is interested in hiring a live-in tutor for her granddaughters who are twins.
