Set in early nineteenth-century England, Pride and Prejudice follows Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's five unmarried daughters after the arrival of the wealthy and desirable Mr. Bingley and his status-conscious friend, Mr. Darcy. While Bingley takes an immediate fancy to Jane, the eldest Bennet daughter, Darcy struggles to fit in with local society and frequently fights with Elizabeth, the second-eldest Bennet daughter.
