Phoenix Nights

Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights is a British sitcom about The Phoenix Club, a working men's club in the northern English town of Farnworth, Greater Manchester. Neil Fitzmaurice, Peter Kay, and Dave Spikey created the show, which was produced by Goodnight Vienna Productions and Ovation Entertainments and shown on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. Toni Baker and Peter Kay wrote all of the music. Paddy McGuinness contributed further information. Two series were created and aired in 2001 and 2002. The show is a spin-off of the parody documentary series That Peter Kay Thing, which inspired the spin-off Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere. It won the People's Choice Award at the 2002 British Comedy Awards and was nominated for several others. Kay also stars in several roles and directs the second series. Kay confirmed on BBC Radio 1 in September 2006 that a third series of Phoenix Nights has been written, although it is unknown when the series will be filmed. Kay made another announcement on May 8, 2007, saying that another series would be produced. However, in late-2009 interviews with The Sentinel and the Croydon Guardian, Dave Spikey stated that he and his co-writer Neil Fitzmaurice were unaware of any intentions to bring the programme back.
