Ni Hao, Kai-Lan

Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is an American children's television show that debuted on Nickelodeon on November 5, 2007, and on Noggin on December 15, 2008. It also debuted on the Canadian television channel Treehouse TV. The show has also aired on Nickelodeon in Israel since March 2009. Ni Hao, Kai-lan is based on the creator of the show, Karen Chau's, childhood memories of growing up in a bicultural household. "Ni hao" translates to "Hello" in Mandarin, and Chau was given the Chinese name Kai-Lan at birth, which was later anglicized to Karen.
