Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica is a reality TV show that was made and shown by MTV and MuchMusic. It happened after Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson got married and became a married couple. The show debuted in August 2003 and ran for three seasons, with a total of 41 episodes. The last season started on January26,2005, and the last episode was shown on March30, 2005. Simpson and Lachey got married on October26,2002, and on December16,2005, they filed for a divorce. Jessica and Nick's divorce was finalized on June30, 2006. Simpson's innocence was a big part of the show's gimmick, which played on the common stereotype of "dumb blondes." Simpson asked Nick about a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna in the first episode, which may be the most famous example "What I'm eating, is it chicken or fish? Even though I know it is tuna, it says "Chicken... by the Sea.""
