Mission: Impossible

Bruce Geller is credited as the show's creator and original producer for the American television series Mission: Impossible. Storyline-wise, it follows the exploits of the Impossible Missions Force, a covert government agency. Dan Briggs, played by Steven Hill, is the team's leader in the pilot episode; in subsequent seasons, Jim Phelps, played by Peter Graves, takes over. The series' signature feature is the self-destructing recording on which Briggs or Phelps receives his orders, followed by Lalo Schifrin's memorable theme music. From September 1966 until March1973, the show aired on CBS, and then it returned to TV for two more seasons from 1988 to 1990 on ABC with only Graves remaining from the original cast. Afterward, beginning in1996, it spawned a string of successful theatrical film features starring Tom Cruise.
