Irwin Allen conceived and produced the television program. Land of the Giants was Allen's fourth science fiction television series. ABC aired the program, which was distributed by 20th Century Fox Television. The entire series was filmed in color and consisted of 51 episodes. Gary Conway and Don Marshall were in the program. In 1968 and 1969, Murray Leinster also published three novels based on the television series.
