In the Heat of the Night

An American television series based on the film and novel of the same name, starring Carroll O'Connor as William Gillespie, a white police chief, and Howard Rollins as Virgil Tibbs, an African-American police detective, is In the Heat of the Night. This series aired on both NBC and CBS from 1988 through 1995. Fred Silverman, Juanita Bartlett, and Carroll O'Connor were the show's executive producers. The first season of the series was published on DVD by TGG Direct on August28, 2012.
