Hercules: The Legendary Journeys is a New Zealand and American television series. It was created in 1995 and was partially based on the legends of Heracles, the Greek culture hero. It aired for six seasons and was one of the highest-rated syndicated television shows in the world at the time, spawning action figures and other memorabilia. Along with its spin-off, Xena: Warrior Princess, it developed a cult following. It was preceded by four TV movies with the same key characters in 1994 as part of Universal Television's Action Pack: Hercules and the Amazon Women, Hercules and the Lost Kingdom, Hercules and the Circle of Fire, Hercules in the Underworld, and Hercules in the Maze of the Minotaur.
