Naota is a typical Japanese sixth-grader (if a touch cynical), but his elder brother leaves his 17-year-old lover Mamimi behind when he goes to America to play baseball. Mamimi is sending Naota confusing signals and approaches, and he's not sure what to do about it. To make matters worse, Naota's life is turned completely upside down when he gets hit by a woman on a Vespa. She smashes him in the head with her guitar during their first encounter, causing a horn to grow out of his forehead. She introduces herself as "Haruko," and her presence throws Naota's life into even more chaos.
