Norihiro Yagi is the creator of the Claymore manga series, which features dark fantasy stories and illustrations. The first episode of the series was published in the May 2001 edition of the manga magazine Monthly Shonen Jump, which has since ceased publication. On April4,2006, it published the first volume of the series, and as of November6,2012, it had published a total of 21 volumes in the series. Funimation Entertainment holds the rights for the anime adaptation's release in North America. The company has already distributed the first DVD in the series, which was published in the fall of2008, and has distributed the complete series on Blu-ray, which was distributed in the spring of 2010. The anime has been granted a license for distribution in Australia and New Zealand by Madman Entertainment, and Manga Entertainment has obtained a sub-licence to distribute the anime in the United Kingdom.
