Charlemagne
The life of Charlemagne is chronicled in the 1993 television miniseries Charlemagne, le prince à cheval. On Christmas Day, AD 800, Charlemagne was coronated as the first Holy Roman Emperor in five incidents that span the years from his father Pepin the Short's death in AD 768 to his coronation. It's worth noting, though, that Widukind, the Saxon monarch, surrenders and accepts Christ in an earlier episode than was actually the case in AD 803. Clive Donner directed the show, which was heavily influenced by Einhard's contemporaneous history of Charlemagne, which was written at the time of Charlemagne's death.
