Celebrity Deathmatch is a claymation television program that pits celebrities in a wrestling ring, nearly usually resulting in the grisly death of the loser. It was notorious for the amount of blood utilized in each bout and the exaggerated nature of the injuries. Eric Fogel produced the series, which premiered on MTV on January 1 and 25, 1998. The initial series aired for 75 episodes from May 14, 1998 and October 20, 2002. "Celebrity Deathmatch Hits Germany," which broadcast on June 21, 2001, was one of the specials that did not count toward the final episode count. Stone Cold Steve Austin provided the voice for his animated form as a guest commentator. MTV reported early in 2003 that a film based on the series was in development, however the project was canceled by the end of 2003.
