Bodyline

A fictionalized account of the 1932–1933 Test cricket competition between England and Australia. The series was played in Australia and became famous in Australian and international cricketing history due to the fact that the English team, led by captain Douglas Jardine, used a bowling technique known as "leg theory" or, more commonly, Bodyline. The technique was utilized by the English bowling team. This strategy called for the bowlers to bowl the ball directly towards the body of the batsman, which resulted in many members of the Australian side incurring a variety of bruising and injuries, including a shattered skull for batsman Bert Oldfield. In Australia, the series caused a great deal of hatred and resentment toward the English squad, and it severely damaged relations between the two countries' cricket teams at the time.
