Shimura Teppei (Fujigaya Taisuke) grew up seeing his police officer father ride side-by-side in marathons because he was a motorcycle cop, and as a boy he wished to be a marathon runner. Teppei's father, on the other hand, lost his job and vanished. Teppei wrecked himself by becoming a well-known local delinquent. Teppei chose to become a police officer after graduating from high school due to the influence of his boyhood friend, Yuichi. He suddenly passed the recruiting test and was accepted into the police school.
