Arena

During the 2002-2004 season, Arena was a G4/G4techTV television show that covered competitive gaming. Teams were pitted against each other in the form of a LAN party, playing multiplayer video games at the time. Several episodes of the show focused on a recurring competition. Some video games, like Unreal Tournament 2004 and Call of Duty, have multiple episodes. Teams can also talk about who they are and how they came up with the name for their team. In 2004, Team ZoMBiE emerged victorious from the Tournament of Champions as the ultimate arena champions. In 2005, Team Kaizen emerged victorious from the Tournament of Champions as the ultimate arena champions. In a Slashdot article, Wil Wheaton said that he and co-host Travis Oates had departed the show because of a disagreement with the show's producer, Jim Downs. It was decided to bring in Lee Reherman and Michael Louden to take their places. Reherman and Kevin Pereira were the final hosts. Studio 2 was used to film the first two seasons. G4's largest studio, studio3, was used as a filming location for the third and final season of the series in 2004. In July2004, after learning of the TechTV purchase, the show banked some episodes before being discontinued to make room for three former TechTV shows, X-Play, The Screen Savers, and Unscrewed with Martin Sargent.
