Produced by Once A Frog and Dick Clark Productions in partnership with Universal Network Television and NBC Studios, the drama series American Dreams is an American television program that airs on the NBC television network in the United States. Jonathan Prince conceived of the show, and he, together with Josh Goldstein, was responsible for the show's development. Prince, who also served as an executive producer alongside Dick Clark, was one of the show's creators. The 29th of September, 2002 was the first day it was publicly shown. A significant portion of the show takes place in Philadelphia. It first broadcast on Sundays at 8:00 pm Eastern time; however, beginning on March9,2005, it relocated to the same hour on Wednesdays until the conclusion of its third season. The show is set in Philadelphia in the middle of the 1960s and chronicles the narrative of the Pryor family. The events of the first season took place in1963–1964, those of the second season in1964–1965, and those of the third season in 1965–1966. When the show first appeared in Australia, it was given the title Our Generation; however, when it came back for its second season, the title was changed back to American Dreams. Emerson Hart, main vocalist of the band Tonic, is the songwriter and performer behind the song "Generation," which serves as the show's theme song. In2003, the ASCAP awards ceremony recognized Hart's song as the "Best Theme Song of Television." The television program won the "Future Classic" award at the 2003 TV Land Awards.
