21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street is an American police procedural crime drama that aired on the Fox Network and in first run syndication from April12, 1987 to April27, 1991. A squad of undercover police agents investigates crimes at high schools, colleges, and other young settings. It was originally supposed to be called Jump Street Chapel after the deconsecrated church where the unit is based, but Fox changed it so viewers wouldn't believe it was a religious show. The show was created by Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell and produced by 20th Century Fox TV. Hasburgh, Cannell, Steve Beers, and Bill Nuss were EPs. The show was a hit for the upstart Fox Network and aimed at a younger demographic. The last season aired on local Fox affiliates. It ran on FX from 1996 to 1998. Johnny Depp's acting career was boosted by the series, which made him an adolescent idol. Depp considered this status unpleasant, but he continued working for $45,000 every episode. The fourth season was his last. Dennis Booker had a one-season spin-off, Booker, from September 1989 to June 1990. On March 16, 2012, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum starred in a cinematic adaption.
