16 and Pregnant

MTV premiered 16 and Pregnant on June 11, 2009. It explores the experiences of pregnant adolescent girls in high school as they navigate the difficulties of adolescent pregnancy. Each episode follows a different adolescent girl, who is usually 4 to 8 months pregnant when the show starts. When the child is a few months old, the experience usually ends. The series is shot in documentary style, with highlights from each episode animated on notebook paper before commercial breaks. Teen Mom, Teen Mom2, and Teen Mom 3 are some of the spin-off shows from 16 and Pregnant. Each season of 16 and Pregnant follows four girls as they negotiate their first years as mothers. The fifth season of the sitcom is currently being cast as of July 2013.
