When Jussi Vares discovers the remains of two women on the outskirts of Turku, one of whom has been shot in the head, as well as the guy whose body is covered in runes that resemble the slashes, it becomes clear that the killings were part of a terrible ritual. An further year passes before Vares is brought in to look into these killings. Invisible godfather, sheriff, Varesta is guided by cable wires in Turku's underworld. It's Sheriff who no one knows and no one talks about. To the "jury," the hidden underworld ruler clubs, Vares' human spirit is only a commodity that may be bought and sold. Vares gets too close to the truth when sifting through the case.
