Late in the spring of1890, under Dr. Gachet's care, Vincent relocates to the small town of Auvers-sur-Oise, located not far from Paris. A little over 70 days later, Vincent takes his own life by shooting himself. We watch while Vincent creates portraits and landscapes at his studio. Theo, his wife Johanna, and their newborn son pay a visit to Auvers. Vincent's wit and charm attract the attention of several women, including Gachet's daughter Marguerite (who is half his age), a young inn maid, a Parisian prostitute named Cathy, and an innkeeper named Johanna. On his final trip to Paris, Vincent has a falling out with Theo, belittles his artistic achievements, dances at a brothel, and displays both warm and chilly feelings toward his girlfriend Marguerite.
