Mikami, a middle-aged ex-yakuza, is released after 13 years in prison for murder. To discover his long-lost mother, he registers for a TV show and meets Tsunoda, a young TV director. Meanwhile, he struggles to acquire a job and fit into society. Impulsiveness, obstinacy, and established views produce conflict in his relationship with Tsunoda and those who wish to aid him.
