The Wild Child

Outside of Aveyron, France, a feral boy is discovered in 1798. He gets sent to an asylum after being labeled mentally ill. When a young doctor who specializes in deaf-mute education and ear-nose-throat physiology, Jean Itard, sees the youngster, he is persuaded that the boy has normal mental capacity, but that his development has been impeded by his lack of interaction with society. He adopts the child, gives him the name Victor, and sets out to educate him over the course of several years.
