Frank Galvin is a down-on-his-luck attorney, reduced to drinking and ambulance chasing. Former colleague Mickey Morrissey reminds him of his duty in a medical malpractice suit that he himself presented to Galvin on a silver platter, with all parties prepared to settle out of court. As he stumbles through the preliminary proceedings, he suddenly realizes that perhaps the matter should be brought to court in order to punish the guilty, secure a fair settlement for his clients, and restore his reputation as a lawyer.
