Terry Wolfmeyer and her four daughters are left to fend for themselves after her husband leaves her for his secretary. Terry finds a drinking companion and friend in her neighbor Denny, a former baseball player who lives next door. Terry begins to have doubts about the future of their relationship as the two become closer and her daughters become increasingly dependent on Denny.
