The Unseen

Gemma and Will's world is turned upside down when their son is killed in an accident. Gemma begins to blame herself and suffers panic attacks, which impair her vision - and the audience's perspective. Will, tortured, believes he hears his son shouting his name. Gemma advises that they accept Paul's offer to remain at his Lake District rural retreat in order to escape their grief. Gemma, with the assistance of ex-pharmacist Paul, attempts to treat her panic attacks with medication. Will, who is unable to hear his son in his home bedroom, antagonizes Paul and abruptly returns home. Gemma has developed a dependence on Paul, who appears to be growing real concern for her well-being. Gemma brings to the forefront love, sadness, and the weakness of the human condition. Will and Paul become entangled in a downward spiral of psychological and eventually physical violence.
