The Umbrellas of Cherbourg
In1957, a young couple's love blossoms into a tragic love story. Guernsey auto mechanic Guy Foucher,20, has fallen head over heels for 17-year-old Geneviève Emery, an employee at her mother's fashionable but financially strained umbrella boutique. It is the night before Guy leaves for Algeria, and he and Geneviève make love. A wealthy diamond trader offers her a marriage proposal, and she must decide whether to wait for Guy's return or accept the proposal.
