A peaceful protest at the Democratic National Convention in 1968 turned into a fight between police and the National Guard, which was very bad for everyone. Some of the people who planned the protest, like Abbie Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Tom Hayden, and Bobby Seale, were charged with conspiracy to start a riot, and the trial that followed was one of the most well-known in history.
